PEPPE PIZZERIA Etienne Marcel

The pizzas are delicious, but the service leaves much to be desired. We ordered a shared appetizer, and we had barely started eating when the server (who seemed to be the manager) placed the rest of our order (two pizzas) without any regard for the available space on the table. We were caught off guard, and the employee in question clearly saw this in our eyes but didn't seem to care for a second. This employee appears to be very good at chatting with customers he connects with, as I saw him do this several times. However, when we pointed out that he took the time to stop at our table to collect our empty appetizer plates to free up space, he nodded and continued on his way because he had something to do. But on his return, he walked right past us without even acknowledging us. I can certainly see his talent for "public relations." But perhaps we weren't in the right place in the restaurant to appreciate it. This is my fourth time at Peppe d’Etienne Marcel because my friend is a big fan of your pizzas, and I have to admit they're very good. I've often found the waitstaff a bit haughty or pretentious in their attitude, but I've never paid it any mind as long as the service is good. However, the dishes were brought out just as we were finishing our appetizers: I didn't like that. And the waiter snubbed us when he took our appetizer plates and the empty bread basket: I didn't like that either (his colleague immediately took the empty items when I called him over: thank you!). When I came out of the restroom, was in his line of sight, and was about to leave the restaurant, and I saw him taking the time to chat and laugh, and he didn't say thank you or goodbye: that's unprofessional. So I won't be setting foot in that Pepe again. I'll try the "world champion" pizzas at other Pepe locations where I'm sure to find professional staff who remain humble. I'm being kind in my rating, but clearly, it doesn't reflect my opinion.

The Neapolitan pizzas were really good, interesting toppings, and they have a couple of vegetarian options on the menu. The service felt a bit impersonal and trained for fast turn around. One sure thing is that you will be served fast and shown the way out on time too, because there’s more bookings after you.

So, the pizza wasn't cooked properly, the service was terrible, I waited in front of everyone at the entrance for 10 minutes and the staff walked right past and ignored me… 😡

The pizzas were decent and the ingredients seemed to be of good quality. The service was pleasant and the place was nice. Overall, a satisfactory experience, though not a favorite.
